Idhayam Charitable Trust works to bring dignity and comfort to shelterless and underprivileged communities through regular meal distribution, bedsheets and scarves for warmth, clothing support, and educational assistance for children who need it most. Every contribution, big or small, helps us reach one more person who needs it.
Our work is built around four core programs, each addressing a basic but urgent need.
We organize regular meal distribution drives for shelterless individuals across Chennai. Our volunteers prepare and serve fresh, nutritious meals, ensuring no one in our reach goes hungry.
Cold nights are especially hard for those without shelter. Through this program, we distribute bedsheets and scarves to help people stay warm and protected, particularly during winter months.
We collect and distribute clean, usable clothing to individuals and families who lack access to basic clothing restoring a sense of dignity along with comfort.
We believe education is one of the strongest paths out of hardship. Our education program assists underprivileged children with school essentials books, uniforms, stationery, and in some cases, fee support so they can continue learning without interruption
I started this work because I couldn't walk past someone sleeping on the street without wondering what I could do. A meal, a bedsheet, a set of clothes — these feel small until you see what they mean to the person receiving them. That's why we do this, and that's why we'll keep doing it.
